The Human Trace, a tableware project by Arkadiusz Szwed and Ewa Klekot, showcased at DesignMarch 2017 in Iceland. The project highlights human involvement in industrial porcelain production. Factory workers at Ćmielów porcelain factory wore gloves dipped in cobalt salts while handling the porcelain. These touch marks remained invisible until the pieces were fired, revealing blue imprints where the workers’ hands had touched. The aim of the project is to make the “human touch” in manufacturing visible, combining art and anthropology.
